Central Region

The Central Region is buzzing with activity throughout the year and you don’t want to miss any of the events in the area that benefit over 100,000 children in Pennsylvania. Whether you can volunteer, attend, or sponsor one of these events, there is no doubt that we would value your help at The Second Mile. Annually, the Central Region holds 8 events. In February, the Clinton County Texas Hold ‘Em Event is hosted by the Clinton Chapter and offers a full day of poker, food and fun. The Clearfield Sports Banquet is held towards the end of the month and offers a venue for friends of The Second Mile to meet celebrity athletes and honor the volunteers and Second Mile kids that have excelled in the past year. The Reverse Drawing to Benefit Blair, Bedford, Cambria and Huntingdon Counties is held in March at the Casino at Lakemont Park in Altoona and promises a night of exciting prizes and entertainment. The Charity Auction, held in May at The Ramada Inn and Conference Center, State College, is an oppotunity to enjoy food, friends, silent and live auctions and learn more about The Second Mile. The Clearfield Chapter hosts a Monte Carlo Night in April as well. Clinton County Sports Night and Silent Auction in May includes dinner and many impressive auction items. The Second Mile Golf Classic is a 3 day event (Thursday - Saturday) in June that features past and present Penn State and professional athletes. Last but not least, the Mercedes-Benz Reverse Drawing is held November at the Penn Stater Conference Center and Hotel. More information is to come on many of these events, so make sure to check back often.
If you haven’t yet experienced the fun of these events, we would love to have you join us as a guest or sponsor as an additional way to support Second Mile children. Or consider joining the Region’s extensive network of dedicated volunteers by contacting our Central Region Office (814) 237-1719 or office@thesecondmile.org. Volunteers are the lifeblood of The Second Mile; the Region’s Board, Chapters and staff would welcome your expanded involvement on behalf of children who need our help
