Community-Based: Foster Family Support
Information for Foster Care Agencies
Second Mile foster family activities are made possible through the generous donations of those venues. As you look at the calendar you will see that our events are located in three primary areas: Central PA, Southcentral PA, and Southeastern PA. These are the areas where we have the volunteers and resources available to provide events. As our presence expands, we hope to be able to provide activities for families in other areas as well, such as the Southwest region. If your agency has not participated in Second Mile events, please contact any of our offices for information regarding possible inclusion in our program.
Sometimes, we receive tickets to a great event, are anticipating that all of the tickets will be used, and actual attendance turns out to be far less than we anticipated. This is where you can help us. Please provide reminders to the families close to the event date. If families realize they cannot attend an event, please attempt to pass those tickets on to another family or let The Second Mile know so that we can re-distribute the additional tickets. As much as possible, we will provide Second Mile contact information for the day of events so that last minute cancellations can be relayed to us. For some of our events we ask that agency staff be present at registration to help us distribute tickets – and to contact waiting list families if we learn of cancellations.
