Community-Based: Counseling & Referral
The behavioral direction and emotional support offered through individual counseling empowers many youth to develop the self-confidence, coping strategies, and interpersonal skills necessary to become autonomous, well-adjusted adults. The Second Mile offers counseling services through our state office in State College, PA, and provides referrals to outside professionals and agencies through all three of its offices-State, Southcentral, and Southeastern.
Additionally, for youngsters and their families who have needs and issues which are not currently addressed through one of our programs, The Second Mile maintains memberships in a variety of human service agency networks and stays abreast of information about local programs. These networks and this information makes it possible for The Second Mile to connect those children and families with available programs and services.
School counselors, teachers, parents, and other youth professionals may contact The Second Mile's state office to inquire about treatment services. For referral information, contact the closest Second Mile office regarding various issues including substance abuse, emotional and/or physical abuse, mental health issues, domestic violence or aggressive behaviors, pronounced social and/or emotional difficulties, the Commonwealth's CHIP low- or no-cost insurance program, and services for basic needs.
If you are in need of information regarding services for children and
families in your area, please contact
