Summer Internships - Sample Task List
Prevention Programs
PEAK (Prevention: Education and Awareness for
Kids)
- Assist in new program development - research issues, develop bibliography, create guide pages
- Process and mail orders
Nittany Lion Tips
- Write and edit Tips
- Begin design of the Fall Facilitator's Guide
Leadership Institute
- Assist with follow-up as assigned
Early Intervention Programs
Challenge Program
- Communicate with school counselors and parents via both phone and mail
- Maintain data of address, phone, and school changes of participants and counselors
- Process participant applications, permission slips, and other forms related to registration
- Secure of donations for the program, including picnic lunches
- Create new games and initiatives
- Recruit volunteers for various residential week activities, including reminder phone calls and transportation of children
- Have the opportunity to work a residential week
Friend Program
- Assist with creation of event calendar and flyer prototypes
- Mail Young Friend applications to school counselors
Friend Fitness Program
- After training, provide backup for adult volunteers who are not able to
participate in workout sessions
Community- Based Programs
Foster Family Support
- Assist in the planning of amusement park trips
- Specific responsibilities may vary, but the following are examples of possible responsibilities:
- Request donations
- Write press releases
- Maintain contact with Children & Youth Agencies
- Assist with registration of families at the event
- Design fliers and posters
Children's Fund
- Review and provide follow-up regarding post-secondary scholarship applications
- Assist with preparation of new Children's Fund packets
- Research other community organizations to determine if funding for a specific need may be available from another source
